I used to love the Narnia books when I was a Christian, and I still do. The Magician's Nephew was my favorite for it's account of creation. I too liked Aslan way more than Jesus. I disagree with the way C.S. Lewis responded to the boy's letter; as a Christian I would have said that it's a form of idolatry. The problem is that there's so little historical record of Jesus that it's easy for anyone to make Jesus out to be the way they want him to be, and I think it's pretty egotistical of Lewis to say that his interpretation of Jesus is correct.
